Dress for Mess 2008!
Greensboro, NC, January 31, 2008 – Normally when a friend tells you that they know about a non-profit holding a fundraiser, you might begin to feel a tightness in you chest and in your wallet as you start to dread that moment when they ask you to buy a ticket to an over-priced spaghetti/pancake/carwash dinner. Well you can breathe a sigh of relief if that fundraiser is the CVA’s upcoming DRESS FOR MESS.
The Center for Visual Artists, a comprehensive art center located in the downtown Greensboro is thrilled to announce the return of its the Dress for Mess Fundraiser, to be held Saturday evening, March 29th, 2008 at the Greensboro Cultural Center from 7-11pm. If you haven’t heard about it before, this is a formal event, with casual or messy dress because it features at least a dozen hands-on art stations for adults to try their hand at activities such as pottery, weaving, jewelry, stained glass, and felting to name a few. There is a good chance you’ll get messy, and guarantee that you’ll have fun. Participants will also get to take their creations home!
On top the interactive portion of the even there will also be musical entertainment by Blue's Creek, a silent auction, and perhaps the best part: FOOD! The theme for the food this year is Southern Comfort, featuring items such as: cornbread, biscuits, hushpuppies, smoke barbecued ribs, fried catfish, baked chicken, chicken and dumplings, shrimp and grits, beef stew, neck bones, fried pickles, sawmill gravy, coleslaw, green beans, black-eyed peas, potato salad, sweet potatoes, pickled okra, pecan pie, banana pudding, sweet potato pie, peach cobbler, and bread pudding. You can wash all of that down with homemade sweet tea and lemonade or visit the cash bar that will be available.
Proceeds raised at the event are used throughout the year to promote the CVA mission of providing and expanding arts education opportunities in the community. Over 300 supporters are expected to attend and tickets are being kept at a low price of $35/individual and $60/couple. More details about the event please visit www.dressformess.org. To purchase tickets please call (336) 333-7485.
